Of course every single woman who has valiantly been trying to get pregnant and finally succeeds cannot wait to tell their partner. I am naturally no different. The big question here is, how to do it? I wanted to scream it out loud, but since he was at work I thought that might not be appropriate. What I did do however, was promptly inform my boss that I was taking the rest of the day off and then I practically skipped out the door. Seriously though, I'm not sure my feet even touched the ground. I'm pretty sure that for the second time in my life I walked on water that day.
Anywho...the 35 minute drive home was excrutiatingly painful. I felt like my head was going to implode with the knowledge it was holding tightly on to (with both sides so to speak). I thought and thought and finally decided to buy some flowers to present to the daddy to be. PS. I couldn't resist telling the sales lady my exciting news. So sorry honey, I would have loved for you to be the first to know, but as of that moment he would be the third.
While desperately holding onto the pink and blue carnations, I trudged up the stairs to my husbands office, all the while thinking 'in a few months this is going to be a lot harder'. I'll never forget the look on his face when I gave him those flowers. If only I could have snapped a picture. You know the look a dog gives you when you talk to it? When it cocks its head to the side as if to say "huh"? That's it! That's the look my husband gave me! "What are these flowers for?" he said.
Okay ladies, here is the hard to swallow truth...MEN DO NOT READ LOOKS ON YOUR FACE OR MINDS. I just wanted you to know this, because I swear I thought that he would totally understand that the look on my face meant he was going to be a dad. I mean SERIOUSLY!
...then I told him..."honey, you are going to be a daddy". Most wonderful moment to date. The expression on his face was priceless. And hearing him tell someone for the first time that he was going to be a daddy was even better.
I love my husband so much. We had tried so hard and it was so wonderful to be able to share my joy with the person I love most in the world.
Keep up the hard work ladies, lets bring lifes most precious joy to our own lives!
